The Role of RAM Packaging Engineer
Level Reports to: RAM Product Leader
Department: Machine Division

The RAM Packaging Engineer (RPE) is responsible for the cohesive design of RAM products incorporating the technological solutions delivered by the Core Product Technology team.   All documentation that captures the RAM product including the top level CAD assembly, specifications and product documentation is delivered by the RPE.

Under the guidance of the RAM Product Leader (RPL) the RPE will create the initial master CAD model including application specific keep out zones. This master model will be used by the technology team developing the specific technology packages for each machine.

RPE will update the master model with data packages from the technology team as designs mature. The RPE will drive the modelling standards for the master model and perform clash detection for all imported data.

In addition the RPE will prepare design review documentation, detailed drawings for custom purchased parts (outside of the scope of the technology team responsibilities), Bills of Material, technical manuals and design calculation reporting.

  • Supply chain – Purchased parts
  • VPP – Vision, Goals and Objectives
  • Plant engineering – site specific requirements
  • Process engineering – process requirements

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  1. Deliver RAM product documentation to Svante and its customers meeting all, project requirements, assigned performance criterion, development cost targets, manufacturing cost targets and project timelines provided by RAM Product Leader.
  2. Integrate technology and engineering CAD packages from the Core Product Technology Team.
  3. Build and integrate the machine and SAB master CAD model including data management.
  4. Create, review and/or manage the RAM product document set including (not limited to):
    • Manufacturing documentation including:
      • CAD models
      • Technical drawings
      • Specifications
    • DFMEA
    • DVPSoR and test plans
    • Risk register
    • Issues list
    • FAT and SAT sign-off lists
  5. Complete the documentation set delivered to and from internal and external suppliers.
  6. Support concept, prototype, pre-production and production digital and physical machine and SAB build.
  7. Produce detailed documentation for:
    • Concept phase
    • Prototype phase
    • Production design
    • FAT
    • SAT

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of industrial machinery development within rapidly growing new technology fields. Ideally this should be within technologies similar to Svante.
    Proven experience of successfully designing and documenting complex large-scale industrial machinery including engagement with large groups of internal and external suppliers.
  • Knowledge: Excellent grasp of first principles in mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and production of detailed drawings.
  • Attitude: Must naturally espouse Svante values and believe in our Goals and Objectives. Must possess excellent problem solving skills in a collaborative manner using world class tools and techniques.
  • Education: Engineering to BASc level or equivalent.
