Svante Inc., considered to be a leader in carbon capture technologies, and General Electric (GE) Gas Power have partnered to to decarbonize natural gas-fired turbines.
The joint development agreement (JDA) was reached a few months after GE agreed to help fund Svante in a $318 million Series E fundraising.
“GE’s 130-plus years of experience in energy applications will be invaluable to us as we rapidly scale our operations and manufacturing capacity to be able to capture millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) from diverse industrial sites around the world,” said Svante CEO Claude Letourneau.
As part of the JDA, Svante and GE are looking to market Svante’s solid sorbent technologies that are “aimed at decarbonizing natural gas-fired turbines in a cost-effective, environmentally responsible manner,” said Letourneau.
